This project, a continuation of the previous version (GEOVACUI-1), is financed by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (Fecyt). Under the leadership of the Complutense University of Madrid, it has the scientific participation of the universities of Barcelona, Burgos, Málaga and Seville. It is a NEWSERA pilot project and is included in Spain’s Citizen Science Observatory and eu-citizen.science.
The project aims to address the phenomenon of underpopulation in rural areas, uniting academic perspective with civic, through the promotion of participatory methods. The work has focused on a collection of initiatives that favor or harm the determination of populations in Spanish rural areas and identify the defining elements of good practices. Likewise, it seeks, in a collaborative manner, to open the lines of debate to deepen knowledge of the causes, consequences, problems and opportunities associated with the status of population abuses in those regions and to promote citizen participation in research activities. encourages to.
