Everything we know about the new SUV

Tesla has just unveiled the redesign of the Tesla Model 3 at the 2023 Munich Motor Show. Sales began immediately afterwards. The Model S and Model The design company LaMianDesign has shown what “Phase 2” will look like, which is being developed under the code name Project Juniper.

Easy to imagine

The Model Y is actually the latest model from the brand owned by Elon Musk. It is an EV SUV that was launched in 2020 as the model’s little brother.

The Model Y is very similar to the Model 3 both technically and aesthetically, so it is likely that the update will be similar to its predecessor. The designer applied virtually the same treatment.

Redesign

The vision of the updated model includes sharper and more horizontal headlights similar to those of the future Tesla Roadster, rear optics in the form of “crab claws” and redesigned front and rear bumpers that follow in the footsteps of the sedan.

Based on the Model 3, the Model Y’s interior should benefit from sleeker finishes than what’s currently available. The controller behind the steering wheel disappears and transmission controls are moved to a central touchscreen with thinner edges. To this we need to add Auto Shift, which automatically selects the gear based on the images from the cameras around the vehicle. A screen is available for the rear passengers.

No changes are expected in the drive motor, although the range could improve slightly thanks to an aerodynamic improvement. According to Reuters, this development will be an opportunity for Tesla to further standardize car manufacturing processes across its various production facilities in Germany, China and the United States.

Departure date

Production of the redesigned Tesla Model Y is scheduled for October 2024. Will it be presented at the Paris Motor Show? We’ll tell you…
