Millions of Colombian households this week celebrated the announcement by several supermarket chains to reduce the prices of hundreds of products in the basic basket in a bid to provide relief to families hit by high inflation.

Tiendas Ara was the first to announce the price cut, with Éxito, Olímpica and Colsubsidio among other supermarkets that will provide this relief to families.
One of the products causing concern due to its high price is milk. Bad weather, shortages and the high cost of inputs affect dairy production in Colombia, although the problem has persisted so far this year.
The Ministry of Agriculture announced the increase offered by milk in Colombia since March, as a result of the strong winter that occurred in the country, for which milk prices increased by 36.6% for consumers and 38.6% for producers.
For this reason, many Colombians were paying attention to the price of milk with the announcement of supermarkets. Below we present the price at which it was found in chains, which is surprising for its low price, since a one-liter bag can cost up to $ 3,600.
Cheapest milk in the market.
A six-litre bale of milk is much cheaper than some brands near supermarkets that have announced a reduction in prices. In the case of Olympica, the Gold Medal brand is priced at $20,400 pesos, according to the business’s website, meaning each liter would cost $3,400.
In the case of Exito, the chain’s own brand is priced at $20,200 per bale, which becomes an option for many users.
Even in Carulla, that supermarket’s brand costs $24,7000, while Colessubsidio’s own brand costs $26,700.
