Extraordinary examination for child psychiatry in June

The Ministry of Health has published a preview of the call for practical testing for extraordinary access to the title of specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry. Using the official training program as reference, the test will consist of three clinical cases and will last for 75 minutes, as indicated on the ministry’s website.

The specifics of the process, which is “estimated to take place at the end of June in Madrid”, have been published on the ministry’s website where it also states that the exact place, day and time to meet in the next meeting will be given. Some days. Health informs all applicants that the test will “compute a questionnaire of 15 questions for each clinical case, all of them with four alternative answers, of which only one will be correct.”

In this way, the Ministry forwards some of the details of this trial through a special route of access titled Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, which includes specialists who could not access Route A during their MIR phase. Requests for exceptional access to this title of expert were submitted electronically until 7 April, the deadline for processing this qualification, referred to in letter B of the first section of the first temporary provision of Royal Decree 689/2021 Is.

Specifically, the standard initially provided for access “through recognition of a training course and passing a practical examination”. In this sense, it is established that those who complete Route A during their MIR phase, which establishes specific training in areas such as child and adolescent psychiatry, may apply for the new degree.

However, the Supreme Court ruled last June to suppress some of the contents of this first temporary provision. In particular, references to “training course accreditation” were declared invalid, as well as the requirement to complete Course A in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

As Redaccion Médica advanced, the room appealed to the fact that track A was not being offered in all MIR training programs in psychiatry, which closed this option to many specialists (about 150, Spanish Society As calculated by the Office of Legal Psychiatry).
