Fall Guys is leaving Steam for good on June 21, 2022, and will be moving to the Epic Gaming Store.
Developer Mediatonic is now owned by Epic Games. This is because Epic Games would benefit more from having the game on its launcher.
Thankfully, fans will still retain their copy of Fall Guys if they purchase it on Steam. However, it does raise some questions, particularly regarding the title’s move to a free-to-play model and future updates. It just so happens that the day the game is taken down steam, it enters a new season.
Mediatonic has made it clear, however: Steam users will still receive full support even if the game moves to its new home.
Fall Friends confirms full crossplay and cross-progression support, provided players have linked Epic Games accounts
In an official Steam post, developer Mediatonic addressed the elephant in the room. He clarified that Steam users will retain their copy of Fallen Guys. More importantly, these users will also receive updates to their games in the future.
Here’s what Mediatonic had to say on the subject:
“For everyone who already owns the game, rest assured that you will continue to get full support and all the delicious updates coming to other platforms including crossplay and cross-progression support.
“However, please note that after 1:00PM EST on June 21st, new players will be unable to purchase and download Fall Guys on Steam, and the product page will no longer appear on the storefront.”
This means that even if players missed out on purchasing the game on Steam (or already own it), Season 1: Free for All will still be available to them when it launches on June 21, 2022.
Of course, the most important information is the addition of crossplay and cross-progression support.
Fall Guys has full crossplay and cross-progression support. It allows anyone from all of its supported platforms to play alongside each other, provided they have an Epic Games account linked.
The overall transition is a major milestone for the sport, which was in its sixth season until the decision to go free-to-play. It’s now entering a new era on the Epic Games Store, so it makes sense to just get the season started.
