Robert Lewandowski was in a good mood when he presented himself in the shirt of his new club FC Barcelona for the first time during his trip to North America.
“I am very happy to be here. Coming to Barcelona was a very tough job, but in the end I am here,” said the world footballer in his presentation in the hot sun in Miami. He is delighted to be a part of this great club with an extraordinary history. “We have big plans, we have a lot of potential and qualities in the team and we want to win the title,” said the Poland international.
The 33-year-old traveled from Munich via Mallorca to his new team in Miami over the weekend after a deal was reached between FC Bayern Munich and Barcelona. “I hope I can train with the team quickly and be ready for the next game,” said the world footballer. The star striker could make his Catalan debut against arch-rivals Real Madrid of all places. The encounter will take place on July 23 in Paradise near Las Vegas, Nevada. Even without Lewandowski, Barca won the first game of their North American tour, 6–0 against Inter Miami.
“It’s a new challenge for me, I’m still hungry and I want to score a lot of goals,” said the multiple Bundesliga top scorer, who briefly introduced himself in Spanish at the start of his speech.
