The National Federation of Merchants, Fenalco, He called for the risk of not being able to supply medicines to the country. To address the problem, the union emphasized the importance of including pharmaceutical managers in the work tables, to address the issue of liquidity in the system.
This request was made through a letter from the union addressed to Guillermo Alfonso Jaramillo; Minister of Health, and Ricardo Bonilla, Minister of Finance.
“This request is due to the fact that, Currently, the unionized managers of Fenalco have an outstanding balance of more than $1 billion.”. Although the president of the union, Jaime Alberto Cabal, clarified that the Government pays, it covers only 80% of the value of the services provided, which creates a deficit of 20%, which increases the value of the pending payment.
In addition, they argue that the lack of budget adjustments for 2022 and 2023 has created a gap, which means the resources are not sufficient to cover the expenses generated by the dispensation of
medicines and health supplies which managers have effectively done for the benefit of millions of Colombians.
In the letter, the union added that “Also during this period the transfers for the Maximum Budget corresponding to the months of July and August are pending which means that currently it is the pharmaceutical managers who directly finance and benefit from the distribution of medicines and health supplies to Colombian patients, who under no circumstances can stop their medical treatment.
An urgent call was also made to guarantee the liquidity of the system, which will allow the correct and timely operation of the Pharmaceutical Managers, where he also requested that they be included in the work tables like other unions in the sector, considering its importance
part, which delivers medicines throughout the national territory.
Likewise, the joint work areas of the Ministry of Health are requested, which will allow for quick and effective solutions to be established for this difficult situation.
