Ferrovial has been awarded new projects in the United States to improve the country’s roads at a total cost of more than 1,000 million euros (932 million euros), especially in the states of Texas and Florida.
The works, which will be carried out by its American subsidiary Webber, include the reconstruction of bridges or widening of roads, as well as other developments aimed at increasing road safety. In particular, in Florida, a 79.9 million dollar (74.5 million euro) project constitutes Ferrovial’s first major civil engineering project in the state, as reported by the company.
Webber will rebuild one of the city’s busiest highway links in Jacksonville: the I-95 junction with US-1, also known as the Martin Luther King Parkway. The work, which has already begun and is scheduled to be completed in spring 2025, is in addition to the road maintenance contracts the company already has in Florida, in Orange, Hillsborough and Pinellas counties, and in the Miami port tunnel.
For its part, in Texas it will rebuild the IH-10 (340 million euros), the IG-10 (228 million), the S-59 (177 million), the S-75 (54 million), the Woodrow highway in Lubbock County (35 million), bridge replacement on IH-27 (23 million), S-59 (7 million) and IH-635 (4 million).
Ferrovial’s North American subsidiary specializes in major civil, hydraulic, energy works, and infrastructure maintenance. He currently works on more than 50 construction projects and manages 40 infrastructure maintenance contracts in North America.
