The Austrian court dominated FIFA Team Ultimate on PC, Steam Deck, PS4, PS5, Xbox and Cie. For that, EA is betting on the game and ordering Sony – as the manufacturer of the PlayStation – to pay the sums.
This directly conflicts with what happened a year ago, when the then Dutch Supreme Court invalidated the sanction against EA, considering that FIFA Ultimate Team is not a gambling game.
Now, half a year after the launch of FIFA 23, there is once again a discussion about the gambling game developed by EA Sports.
All this according to what they confirm from the VGC, when Ludi Wirtschaft ruled a small court in the field of Hermagor in favor of several Austrian FIFA players who asked Sony in 2020.
The lawsuit alleges that the actors, including a minor, spent more than 400 coins in the soccer simulator that is now known as FIFA.
The case was made by the lawyer Ulric Salburg stating that the ability to use money in the random package system in FIFA is against the laws of the country gambling; and that he would hold Sony responsible.
