Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.4 Will Be Available May 23rd

Square Enix has announced the release date for Final Fantasy XIV Update 6.4.

The patch, titled The Dark Throne, will be available starting May 23, and will include new missions, a new raid, a new trial, and updates to Crystalline Conflict and Frontline PvP.

According to the official press release, you have the full list of the novelty:

  • New Main Scenario Exploration: The next chapter in the story of the Warrior of Light.
  • New Raid Dungeon (Pandemonium: Anabasios): The final installment of the Raid’s Pandemonium series.
  • New challenges await in New Dungeon: Aetherfont.
  • New Trial: The Voidcast Dice: A challenging new battle against Golbez on Normal and Extreme difficulty.
  • New Unreal Trial: Face off against the mighty Zurvan in Containment Bay Z1T9 (Unreal).
  • New Side Quests: The sequel to “Tataruz’s Grand Endeavour”.
  • Call of Duty Support System Update: Added support for soloing various Stormblood main story dungeons (The Sirensong Sea, Bardam’s Metel, Doma Castle, Castrum Abania, and Ala Mhigo) with a group of non-playable characters.
  • Ocean Fishing Update: Explore A New Route For Cugne!
  • Island Sanctuary Update: New ranks and items to obtain, building lots, crafting, crops, animals, and the ability to place outdoor furniture pieces near structures, among other things.
  • PvP Content Updates:
  • Crystalline Clash: PvP Series 4 begins with Season 7 of Crystalline Clash.
  • The rules for Frontline: The Fields of Glory (Shatter) have been adjusted and a new optional element has been added to the interface to make it easier to keep track of the score and time remaining.
  • Miscellaneous Updates: Various updates include the introduction of a new Allagan Tomestone currency, adding profession symbols to chat and player names, the ability to hypnotize scholar fairies, various general improvements to the system, etc.

In addition, producer Naoki Yoshida has advanced some new features that will be introduced in a future patch 6.45:

  • Blue Mage Update: Level cap increased to 80, exclusive Blue Mage gear pieces, new enemies to challenge, and more.
  • New Edition Dungeon: Mount Rokkon: A new dungeon of variable difficulty designed for 1-4 players and enemies that increase in difficulty depending on the size of the group.
  • New Criterion Dungeon: Mount Rokkon: A four-player high-difficulty content visually similar to the variant dungeon, but with a path. Criterion dungeons will have two difficulty options, Criterion and Criterion (Savage), each with some unique features and rules.

Final Fantasy XIV is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC. Its latest expansion, Endwalker, was published in 2021, but in one of its latest financial reports, the Japanese company confirmed that it will not publish any new ones in 2023.
