In their season opener, the Albany Firewolves dropped a 10–9 decision to the Toronto Rock in a National Lacrosse League competition at the FirstOntario Center in Hamilton, Ontario.
The game was a back-and-forth affair with 15 major changes or ties.
The Rock scored a pair of goals from Dan Dawson late in the fourth quarter and rallied from a 9-8 deficit to seal the win.
Dawson finished with two goals and one assist for Toronto, while Tom Schreiber had four goals and one assist. Reed Reinhold posted two goals and three assists for the Rock, Rob Helier scored one goal and four assists, and Dan Craig scored one goal and two assists. Brandon Slade and Latrell Harris made two assists each for Toronto.
Andrew Kew paced the Albany offense with four goals and two assists, while Reilly O’Connor scored one goal and two assists. Anthony Malcolm, Charlie Kitchen, Jacob Ruest and John LaFontaine also scored for the Firewolves.
Nick Rose scored 34 goals for Toronto, while Doug Jamieson scored 43 stops for Albany.
The Firewolves will be back in action on December 18 when they host the Rochester Nighthawks in their home opener.
