LIVERPOOL, England (NWN) — Roberto Firmino will miss Liverpool and the upcoming World Cup qualifier with Brazil by at least a month due to a hamstring injury.

Firmino, named last week in Brazil’s squad for matches against Colombia and Argentina, suffered an injury during Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

“To lose Bobby Firmino is a blow,” Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said on Friday ahead of Sunday’s game at West Ham. “We still talk about it for weeks and I don’t know exactly, but more than four, which I would regard as a serious injury.”

The 30-year-old forward missed time earlier in the season with a similar injury.

“We’ll have to see. It’s Bobby, he’s a quick healer,” Klopp said. “Usually when you get an injury before the international break, you think they’re ready again after the international break. He’s straight It’s not as of now when Bobby will be ready again. So it’s not good.”

Firmino has scored six goals in 11 matches in all competitions this season, including a hat-trick against Watford.

Real Madrid midfielder Vinicius Jr was named as Firmino’s replacement on Friday. Brazil leads the South American qualifying and plays Colombia in So Paulo on Thursday before facing second-placed Argentina in San Juan five days later.
