The Florida Supreme Court approved Governor Ron DeSantis’ request to form a special jury to investigate drug companies producing COVID vaccines for possible wrongdoing regarding side effects.
According to the New York Post newspaper, the Republican governor requested this investigation in early December, alleging that many people could have died from the possible side effects of the vaccines.
In his request to set up a special jury, DeSantis argued that Florida’s Department of Health analysis had found an increased rate of heart-related deaths among men ages 18 to 39 within 28 days of receiving the vaccine.
The Florida Supreme Court has approved the creation of a special jury that will have statewide jurisdiction and be in charge of investigating possible crimes related to the manufacturing of vaccines against COVID-19.
The jury shall have a term of 12 months from its creation and shall be authorized to prepare indictments, make submissions and perform all the functions of a special jury.
The investigation will include Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna as well as their executives and other associations or medical organizations involved in the production of vaccines.
DeSantis has emphasized on several occasions that it is illegal to mislead and distort the truth in Florida, especially when it comes to lying about the effectiveness of a drug like a COVID-19 vaccine.
He has indicated that these actions are illegal and that he will not tolerate lies regarding drugs.
