Former Taoiseach Enda Kenney Appointed an Independent Director of Clean Tech Firm

Former Taoiseach Enda Kenney has been appointed independent director of clean tech firm Envetech.

The Ballina-based company, which specializes in the treatment of bio-hazardous waste, is to invest €10m in a new technology to deal with plastics, glass, personal protective equipment, sharps containers and other laboratory waste on site.

Mr. Kenny joins four other new appointments to the Envetech board, including Michael J. Dowling, chief executive of US healthcare firm Northwell, Eva Pisa, former vice president of Roche Diagnostics, Imogen Joss, president of Grant Thornton UK, and CEO of sustainability non-profit My Green. Lab, James Connelly.

“We have identified five outstanding independent directors who have the right mix of leadership skills and experience, underpinned by a genuine, collective passion to advance best-in-class technologies that benefit the environment and economy. ,” said Malcolm Bell, President and CEO. Envetech.

“With these new additions across the board, Envetec is firmly positioned in the clinical, pharmaceutical, medical device, and food and beverage industries with the opportunity to impact the environmental footprint of the customers we serve.”

Envetec’s new ‘Generation’ technology simultaneously cuts and disinfects infectious waste and material right at the source. The material can then be transported safely and for recycling.

The technology is designed to help eliminate the public health risks associated with incineration, autoclaving, landfill and transportation of bio-hazardous waste to laboratories.

It is the subject of trademark applications in the EU, UK, US and Japan.
