Formula 1: Leclerc collides and Verstappen wins in France

The French Grand Prix started this Sunday with Charles Leclerc not wanting to give up the pole he achieved on Saturday. He faced Max Verstappen’s attacks and solidified himself at the top after the start. Lewis Hamilton got off to a good start by overtaking Checo Perez and placed his Mercedes in third place.

Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) and Kevin Magnussen (Haas) were punished and made 19 and 20 starts respectively. The Spaniard was ranked and finished fifth, as well as adding an extra point for the fastest lap. Brilliant performance by the only Ferrari driver who could complete 53 laps of the French circuit.

The defining moment of the race came on lap 19, when Charles Leclerc turned around the corner and drove straight into the tire wall. He was released and Verstappen took the advantage to take the lead, who had just gone through the pits and was fresh. Hamilton was placed second and did not even start the position. Checo Pérez was third and held on to 50th, but was stripped of him last place on the podium after a virtual safety car was abandoned by George Russell, the Chinese Guanyue Zhou (Alfa Romeo), who had left the car in the pit. . Had to exit and remove.

Leclerc’s accident and his anger with the team

With Leclerc’s abandonment there was no longer a dispute at the top. Verstappen had tighter tyres and with those tires he remained until the end, even getting a good margin from Hamilton, who was also comfortable with second place. The Englishman has been improving the pace of his Mercedes and has managed to put himself on the podium in the last four races.
