Four NBC Bay Area anchors share their game day recipes

What to eat while watching the game? We asked NBC Bay Area anchors about their game day programs, whether they were watching a college game or watching the Super Bowl at home.

Jessica Aguirre’s party plantain

“I am a Cuban, which means that every party and every occasion will be celebrated with a different plantain side dish or appetizer,” said NBC Bay Area anchor Jessica Aguirre. “On Thanksgiving, we have two deep-fried plantains, also called tostones. At Noche Buena (Christmas Eve), we will pair your classic plantain with lechon (roasted piglet), and on Easter , We mixed it with sweet plantain. You got my “plantain” drift. For the Super Bowl, we went all out to launch the’party plantain’.”

This recipe is suitable for 10 football fans.

raw material

8 super mature plantains

Vegetable oil

Kosher salt

sour cream

Sprigs of parsley

route

Trim the ends of the plantain. Peel down the seams with a knife, then cut the plantain diagonally.

Wash the parsley and cut into sprigs. Set aside to dry.

Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Wait until the oil is hot! Fill your frying pan with plantains in batches, leaving room to flip them, and then start browning them. You want them to be golden on the outside, but super soft on the inside; if they cook too fast, turn down the heat. For the next batch of work, place the finished plantains on a tray lined with paper towels to drain.

When ready to serve, place the plantains on a tray, season them with salt, and then add a ball of sour cream and a sprig of parsley to each plantain. Let the plantain processing begin!

Blue Cheese Fillet Filet Steak by Raj Mathai

“I usually work in the Super Bowl on Sunday, but for a few years I enjoyed the game at home,” said NBC Bay Area anchor Mattei. “I have a favorite dish-it happens to be related to 49 people! Years ago, a local butcher from Redwood City told me that Joe Montana used to come to his store to buy filet mignon. Montana Nazhou will dig a small hole in the fish fillet and stuff it with blue cheese. I improved the recipe.

“Dig a small hole in each steak. Fill it with blue cheese and quail eggs (or oysters). Wrap the holes with bacon and secure them together with toothpicks. Grill to desired ripeness. Serve with a kick Ass red wine!”

King Janelle’s Instant Pot Cheese Spinach and Artichoke Dip

NBC Bay Area anchor Janelle Wang used Instant Pot to make this game day a classic, from grocery bag to party ready in 30 minutes. She said, if you like something a little spicy, use Pepper Jack instead of Monterey Jack.

raw material

1 small onion, chopped

10 ounce package frozen chopped spinach

14 oz can artichoke hearts, drained and cut into quarters

8 ounces light cream cheese

1 cup light sour cream

3/4 cup chicken broth

2 cloves garlic, finely chopped

2 cups grated Parmesan cheese

3 cups grated Monterey or Pepper Jack cheese

Salt and pepper to taste

French fries or sliced sourdough bread for consumption

route

Put the Instant Pot in stir-fry mode, then fry the chopped onions.

Add frozen spinach, artichoke hearts, cream cheese, sour cream, chicken broth and garlic to the Instant Pot; close and lock the lid. Select manual pressure and set the timer to 4 minutes. (It takes 10 to 15 minutes to build up the pressure)

Use the quick release valve on the top to carefully release the pressure. Unlock and remove the cover. Add Parmesan cheese and Jack cheese and stir until smooth.

Serve with French fries or sourdough bread.

Donte Whitner’s Cheese Beef Taco Dip

The previous game of the former San Francisco 49ers security team and NBC Sports Bay Area 49ers analyst Donte Whitner (Donte Whitner) was a classic.

raw material

1 pound lean ground beef

¾ cup of water

1 package taco seasoning

1 pound processed cheese, cut into pieces

Serving: corn chips, shredded lettuce and jalapeno

route

In a large saucepan, cook beef over medium heat. Drain the fat. Add seasonings and water and stir. Add the cheese and stir over low heat until the cheese is melted. Serve hot with corn chips, shredded lettuce and jalapenos.
