Fox News guest’s solution to the school shooting Wiley E. Coyote is getting the comparison.
During an episode of “Hannity” on Tuesday, former New York Police Department detective Pat Brosnan said that schools should set up “man traps” to catch potential shooters. Brosnan’s suggestion comes after at least 19 children and two teachers were killed in a mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas.
“Man traps, a series of interlocking doors at the entrance of the school that are triggered by a tripwire. The tripwire can be a gunshot, broken glass, a manual switch thrown by the school employee and it traps the shooter like a mouse,” Brosnan said.

According to his LinkedIn page, Brosnan received the New York State Police Office of the Year award in 1991. He has been a guest on Fox News for more than two decades and has in the past suggested man traps to capture school shooters.
“You have to be able to shove these guys into coaches when they come to school, when they do some behavior,” Brosnan told Fox News host Neil Cavuto during coverage of the Santa Fe High School shooting. Eight students and two teachers were killed. Santa Fe, Texas in 2018. “That’s the key, I’m a big fan of it.”
After the 2021 mass shooting in San Jose, Calif., Brosnan told Fox News viewers that a COVID-19 vaccine would be responsible for the increase in mass shootings.
…Once the Covid starts to rise, these cowardly shooters will come out with the number of vaccinations,” Brosnan said in 2021, per Insider. “You can be sure they might have been vaccinated. They were just afraid to come out.”
Brosnan’s latest comment drew criticism from several Twitter users:
