Frederick Medal for 34th consecutive 2-man World Cup race | NWN News

IGLS, Austria (NWN) — Francesco Friedrich of Germany extended his streak in 34 consecutive World Cup two-man races with a medal, guiding his sled to an easy victory over country’s Johannes Lochner on Saturday.

Frederick and brakeman Thorsten Margis scored two runs in 1 minute 43.48 seconds. Lochner and Christian Rasp finished second with 1:43.84, and the Canadian team of Justin Cripps and Cam Stones took the bronze with 1:43.96.

Frederick has won 27 gold and seven silver during his two-man World Cup medal streak – not including the Olympic two-man gold from the 2018 Pyeongchang Games, which he shared with the Cripps, and three two-man gold in that period. Men’s world title.

Cody Basque and Carlo Valdes finished 10th for the United States, while Hunter Church and Hakim Abdul-Saboor finished 20th.

America got two top-six spots in the women’s monoboob, Elana Meyers Taylor improving 2-for-2 with another win in the season. Germany’s Laura Nolte was second and Australia’s Brenna Walker third.
