Fremont woman arrested as arson suspect in Sierra Wildland fire

SOUTH LAKE TAHOI – A 43-year-old Fremont woman was detained following her arrest last week on suspicion of arson and other charges in connection with an alleged wildfire, officials said.

On the morning of August 11, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a report of a fire in the Aspen Creek Tract near Echo Summit. He learned from firefighters that an arson suspect was still at the scene.

After speaking to the suspect, who allegedly admitted to starting the fire, the other deputies collected evidence from the scene before arresting him. Officials did not release further details about the size of the fire, or any injuries or structural damage.

The woman, who said she wore a bikini and was covered in scratches and soot, was charged at the county’s South Lake Tahoe Jail for arson involving forest land, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and resisting a peace officer or Was booked on suspicion of obstructing. .

He was taken into custody during the record check on Tuesday afternoon.
