Cam Gallagher hit an RBI single in the seventh inning as the Cleveland Rangers scored two runs to beat Dylan Siege and the Chicago White Sox 3-1 on Thursday.
Venezuelan Gabriel Arias did the job for the Guardians, who salvaged the last game of the three in the series. Nick Sandlin (2–1) got the win, and Emmanuel Claes pitched the ninth for his 15th save.
The Guardians had held the lead through the seventh leg. With one out and runners on second and third, Brian Rocchio grounded out that shortstop Tim Anderson could not control, hitting an error.
Rocchio was credited with his first major league RBI when Will Brennan homered to the plate to make it 2–1.
Gallagher drove in Arias with a single to left field from Gregory Santos. Prior to Gallagher’s hit, the Cleveland catchers had gone 44 hitless at-bats in May with 26 strikeouts.
Sangharsh (2-3) conceded defeat. He allowed three runs and five hits in 6 1/3 innings.
Rookie Logan Allen, in his first start, struck out five and walked one. He also allowed seven hits in 5 2/3 innings.
For the Guardians, Gabriel Arias of Venezuela went 4–2, with 2 runs scored, and one toe; Brian Rocchio 4-1 with RBI, and Andres Jimenez 4-1. Dominican Amade Rosario batted 4–0.
Cubans Luis Robert 4-2 for the White Sox; Yasmani Grandal 4-1, Yoan Moncada 1-1. Dominican Hanser Alberto batted 3–0.
