The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) reported that it has two arrest warrants against Genaro García Luna, former secretary of federal public security in Felipe Calderon’s administration.
The said arrest warrants, the federal agency said, were issued by federal judges. crimes committed in mexico which have no relation to the criminal procedure followed in the United States.
He considered that the said trial “does not affect, in any way”, with the procedures that have been initiated against him in Mexico.
In a statement, the FGR assured that the first arrest warrant is related to the involvement of García Luna in the case of illegal introduction of weapons called “Fast and Furious”.
“In this case, the Mexican authorities have caused the weapons they were allowed to enter illegally at the time huge death toll and irreparable damage to justice,” said FGR.
He added that the second arrest warrant for the former official in charge of the “war against drug trafficking” launched by the Calderón administration coincided with the case of the Federal Center for Prevention and Social Rehabilitation (Ceferesos).
He added that “Genaro’s (Garcia Luna) involvement in this case was necessary to generate immense marital damage and a series of criminal responsibilities in this regard,” he added.
Finally, he noted that there are also two other ongoing investigations in Mexico, and another arrest request that has already been reported at that time.
“All these procedures are within the competence of the Mexican federal authorities, as they are crimes committed in our country,” said the agency headed by Alejandro Gertz Manero.
He indicated that procedures will continue within the framework of the relevant legal framework before the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the US authorities to obtain the extradition of Genaro Garcia Luna.
