Living and working in the United States, Spain, Canada or Australia is the dream of many young doctors who face difficulties making progress in their country of origin. Venezuelan doctor Angie Brau had similar goals and today she knows: Germany offers the best conditions and opportunities for Spanish-speaking doctors. For this reason, it has pledged to support people to establish themselves as qualified doctors in that European country.

A few years ago, Dr. Angie Brau moved to Europe with the aim of better career prospects and more attractive living conditions.

As a native Spanish speaker, she was quickly drawn to Spain. However, he faced a harsh reality: thousands of Latin American doctors had also taken the exam in that country to choose a place to specialize.

So the doctor started the investigation. In addition to finding that Germany offered good opportunities to foreign doctors, they found that its benefits far outweigh those of commonly chosen countries such as the United States, Canada or Australia.

Likewise, Germany offered great opportunities to do a specialty, something that was impossible for Dr. Angie in Spain and in his country of origin.

That’s how Angie Brau started learning German. And with the help of Marlon Pudelek, who is now her husband, she was on her way to earn her medical degree in Germany.

“It wasn’t easy,” he says. The subject is complex; The path is partly incomprehensible even to the Germans. For foreigners it becomes a real maze”, he remarked.

Health system with many opportunities for Spanish speaking doctors

Angie Brau publishes her experiences and progress on her blog and receives more and more requests from doctors interested in working in Germany as well.

Today he has fulfilled his dream of working as a resident in the field of Pediatrics as there are huge number of vacancies in that country for training specialists in all fields.

For this reason, he helps other Spanish-speaking doctors overcome barriers and gain careers in Germany. The optimum conditions that this country provides to the doctors are not equal to any other country.

Angie Brau is in charge of 1,500 doctors who are studying German. It has already brought hundreds of doctors to Germany, not only improving their quality of life, but also providing a solution to the country’s problem of a doctor shortage.

Dr. Brau is directed specifically to Spanish-speaking Latino doctors, whom she contacts via the Internet. You know that many times in Latin America they don’t complete the specific training that is required. Furthermore, during their training they often work for low wages without labor rights. In some countries, they don’t even get any remuneration and face expenses of between $30,000 and $100,000.

“On the other hand, in Germany you can work and train in the specialty of your choice,” says Angie Brau.

“The specialized training in Germany is not linked to a university. It is carried out in a clinic with a training permit and receives a salary of between 70,000 and 90,000 euros per year. This amount is equivalent to the salary of a resident doctor.

In addition, the expert indicates, it is possible to work under a special permit and supervision immediately after the first exam until obtaining a license to practice with the second exam. No other country offers this possibility.

Germany, residence and work benefits for foreign doctors

Many doctors do not know that the licensing process is much more onerous in countries such as the United States, Canada or Australia than in Germany.

According to Angie Brew, it is relatively easy to specialize in that country and obtain a blue card, the equivalent of a green card, the so-called “green card”. Furthermore, unlike the United States, Germany recognizes specialized training obtained abroad.

“Some of our doctors worked as taxi drivers in the United States because they could not become licensed doctors there,” he says.

Other benefits that exist in Germany as a country of residence and work for Spanish speaking doctors are good and safe living conditions. This includes extensive social benefits, free schools, as well as optimal working conditions. The relatively easy entry requirements and attractive pay are icing on the cake.

The Complete Package: From Travel to Doctor’s Job

Angie Brau and Marlon Pudelek have structured the complex process so that other people can earn their medical degree in Germany. He has turned the process into an example of good practice.

As such, they offer foreign doctors the complete package: from German classes to guidance throughout the migration process. Likewise, they help them with visa applications, preparation for homologation exams and procedures for getting places in hospitals. As a rule, the whole process takes two years.

“The key to this process is to learn the German language and prepare well for the homologation exam”, explains Dr.

Thanks to its network of affiliated clinics, its students can undertake internships, which sometimes lead to long-term employment contracts. Also, Spanish-speaking doctors living in Germany can connect and share ideas.

If you would like to establish yourself as a Spanish-speaking doctor in Germany and benefit from attractive living and working conditions, contact Angie Brau and make an appointment.
