The German military industry receives an important order for the manufacture of Puma infantry fighting vehicles, thus strengthening the country’s defensive capability.
Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) and Rheinmetall, Germany’s leading military vehicle manufacturers, have been selected to build another fifty Puma vehicles in a contract worth €1.1 billion.
This commission demonstrates trust and recognition of the quality and effectiveness of the Puma system, considered the most advanced in its class.
Germany invests in its defense
The Bundeswehr Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology and Service Support (BAAINBW) has signed a contract for the acquisition of fifty Puma vehicles, which will be added to the current fleet.
In addition to the armored vehicles, the order includes packages of spare parts and specialized equipment, as well as MELS flight simulators, which will allow for more realistic training for troops.
Puma: power and lethality
The Puma infantry fighting vehicle is recognized as the primary weapon system of the mechanized infantry of the German Army. With a transport capacity of nine people, including crew and infantry, the Puma stands out for its modular protection technology and its capability for networked operation.
Armed with the 30 mm Rheinmetall Mk 30-2/ABM autocannon and the Eurospike Spike LR missile launcher, the Puma has a high power-to-weight ratio and is uniquely lethal on the battlefield.
