The Mortal Kombat 1 data mining community doesn’t stop and has revealed that Ghostface, the mythical assassin from the “Scream” saga, will be coming to the game as a DLC fighter. This is one of the most important novelties that has not yet been officially announced and of course it does not come by itself. Other fighters from the saga such as Noob Saibot and Cassie Cage will return with him. We leave you all the details below:
Ghostface from “Scream” and other fighters have been leaked as Mortal Kombat 1 DLC
These will be some of the Mortal Kombat 1 DLC fighters that have not yet been announced:
- Noob Saibot
- Cyrax (robot)
- Kotal / He-Man / Conan the Barbarian
- Ghost face
- (unknown girl)
- jade
- Cassie Cage
- Kung Jin
That “Kotal/He-Man/Conan the Barbarian” gets attention. We understand that the way of listing all three in the same list item is because the dataminer is not sure whether a particular joke or innuendo belongs to one of these three characters. One of the big novelties would definitely be Ghostface, the identity adopted by the antagonists of the “Scream” saga films and which we could see for the last time in “Scream VI” (2023).
Some of the dialogue surrounding Ghostface has its charm. There’s an intro dialogue from Omni-Man that reveals the existence of the mask and knife killer from the “Scream” saga in the game: “It takes more than a knife and a mask to scare me.”
Ghostface is not the first horror film icon to appear in a game in the Mortal Kombat saga. Freddy Krueger was DLC in Mortal Kombat (2011) and Alien, Predator (ok, his saga isn’t exactly horror focused), Leatherface and Jason Voorhees were downloadable content for Mortal Kombat X (2015).
When will Mortal Kombat 1 be released and which platforms will it be available on?
Mortal Kombat 1 goes on sale on September 19, 2023 and is available for PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. The Premium and Kollector’s editions of the game will allow access to it starting September 14, 2023.
In our analysis, we highlight that it has “mind-blowing graphics” with a score of 9.5 out of 10.
