Giants can rest players after winning playoffs

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. ( Associated Press) – Brian Dabol no longer faces the question of whether the New York Giants will reach the postseason for the first time since 2016.

The Giants (9-6-1) did so after a 38-10 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

The rookie coach celebrated with his players and organization staff, as well as had a friendly chat with fans at MetLife Stadium. The man they called “Dabs” also smoked a cigar or two.

Dabol still has issues to decide. The Giants confirmed their sixth place classification in the National Conference. They will face either Minnesota or San Francisco in the wild card round.

So, will he rest his players in the final game of the regular season in Philadelphia to stay healthy in the playoffs?

Dabol wants to talk to his employees and possibly others in the organization before making a decision.

“I don’t need to make a decision right now,” he said on Monday. “We will do what we think is best for the people and the team this week.”

This is not a simple decision. There’s a lot to consider.

The matchup is everything for the Eagles, who have lost two straight without quarterback Jalen Hurts, who is out with a shoulder injury. They need to win to confirm the first conference spot and a wild-card week bye.

Dabol has repeatedly said that he will do what is best for the team. He also assured in the season that he does not like to lose. It will be interesting to hear their verdict.

Does it work

The Giants had their best offensive performance in three years. It was the first time he had scored at least 30 points since a 37–34 loss to Dallas on October 11, 2020, snapping a 43-game streak. Quarterback Daniel Jones was key, throwing for two touchdowns and running for two more. The 28-point margin of victory was the largest for the Giants since December 7, 2014, when they defeated the Titans 36–7.

need help

Special teams continue to be a problem. Dallas Flowers of the Colts averaged 33.3 yards on three kick returns and was forced to make two big tackles on kicker Graham Gano. Gano is too valuable to be in that position.
