Madison – Gloryn Ringhand, age 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 6, 2021. Gloren was born on May 29, 1939, to Ben and Jesse Westra. She attended Randolph High School. She went to Madison Area Technical College where she studied business. Gloren met Maurice “Mike” Ringhand in Madison and they were married on February 24, 1962. They had three children, Harley, Jeff and Kathy. Glorin worked in accounting for 32 years, 5 at State Lab and 27 for UW Hospital.
Faith was an important part of Gloren’s life. She was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Madison. Gloren was a member of the Lydia Circle and the Cross Stitch Committee (supporting the construction of new churches in Peru). Once her mobility declined, she started a fund that provided rides for those in need of transportation to church. Gloryn taught and assisted students in the Jesus Cares Ministry. This was a group focused on reaching out to the mentally and physically disabled and sharing the word of God. He was very happy to work with the students. Gloryn shared her faith with others as well; He observed and invited others to experience the power of God which meant a lot in his life.
Before the term “gamer” even existed, Gloren was one. She loved to play games, especially cards. It was a way for him to enjoy company with others. He had that “poker face” that drowned his opponents in the hope of victory just before playing the card.
Gloryn is survived by her children, Harley (Dana) Ringhand, Jeff (Haley) Ringhand and Kathy (Dale) Simonson; grandchildren, Michaela (Jonathan) Gonzalez, Landon Ringhand, Keaton Ringhand, Cassie Ringhand, Jacob Ringhand, Samantha (Travis) Ladwig and Meghan Hole; great-grandchildren, Alice Ladwig, Xander Gonzalez and Raikar Gonzalez; step-grandchildren, Haley (Kale) School, Faith (Jake) Simonson and Dan Simonson; step-grandchildren, Elena School and Athena School; and brothers, Berwin (Barb) Westra and John (Tuula) Westra. She will also miss her friend Melissa Holden. She had died before her husband Maurice died; parents, Ben and Jesse Westra; and sister, Loretta May Westra.
