Golf: Local Tournaments, Charity Events

America’s Paralyzed Giants: July 26 at Palo Alto Hills Golf & Country Club. The Bay Area and Western Chapter (BAWPVA), a non-profit veterans organization, is planning its 10th annual tournament. Funds raised will go toward sports and recreation and spinal cord injury research programs to continue our support of wheelchair athletes and help find a cure for paralysis. Gail Newgren Charity Tournament: September 1 at Cinnabar Hills Golf Club. The event begins at 11 a.m. and begins with shotgun format at noon. $800 per twosome, $1300 per foursome: Includes cart, boxed lunch, dinner and tea gift. 5th Annual Phil Wells Golf Outing: September 13 at Moraga Country Club. Shotgun Start, Cocktails and Dinner at 12 noon. $300 per golfer, includes lunch, welcome gift, prize, dinner and silent auction. Proceeds benefit the UC Davis Football Scholarship. 8th Annual Libby Family Fund: October 2 at Lone Tree Golf Course. Check-in at 10 am, followed by 10:48 T time. $120 per golfer, includes range ball, par-3 competition, box lunch on the course, best ball scramble, tee prize and raffles. Hemophilia Golf Tournament: At Ruby Hill Golf Club in Pleasanton on October 25. Shotgun starts at $650 per golfer at 10 a.m., includes 18-hole (Jay Nicklaus designed course), range ball, cart, food, drinks, and gourmet dinner at the club.
