Good inflation data in Spain boosts Ibex 35 stock market opening above 10,000

MADRID (EP). The Ibex 35 started the session this Wednesday with an increase of 0.24%, leading the index to maintain the psychological level of 10,000 points, until reaching 10,027.7 points, the highest since 2020, on a day marked by the publication of the Advance Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Spain.

At the start of this session on Wednesday it was known that the CPI fell 0.4% in November compared to the previous month and cut its interannual rate by three tenths, up to 3.2%. due to cheaper fuel and tourist packages and a less pronounced increase in food prices than experienced last year. Core inflation (which excludes unprocessed food or energy products) in November fell seven-tenths, to 4.5%, a rate 1.3 points higher than the overall CPI and the lowest since April 2022 , when it stood at 4.4%.

Under the business umbrella, At the close of the European stock markets, Ferrovial announced the sale of its 25% stake in TopCo, the holding company that manages London’s Heathrow airport, for 2.7 billion. in euros, after reaching an agreement with Ardian and the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF).

In the early stages of this session, The biggest increase in the Ibex 35 was recorded in Ferrovial (+2.49%), Cellnex (+1.04%) and Colonial (+0.84%), while on the other side the most famous ‘red lanterns’ are Repsol (-0.21%), Mapfre (-0.29%) and Rovi (-0.27%). The main European stock markets opened this Wednesday with a mixed trend, in particular, London fell by 0.45%, while Frankfurt, Milan and Paris rose by 0.25%, 0.16% and 0.09%, respectively.

At the opening of the stock market, The price of a barrel of Brent quality oil, a reference for the Old Continent, is more than 81 dollars, 0.06% lower, while Texas rose 0.05%, to $76.45.

In the currency market, the price of the euro against the dollar stands at 1.0991 ‘greenbacks’, while The Spanish risk premium is around 100 basis points, with the interest required on the 10-year bond at 3.442%.
