In 1913, Victoriano Manteiga came to the United States from Cuba and went to work as a “lector,” reading the news of the day for immigrant workers at the Morgan Cigar Factory in the town of Ybor, a National Historic Landmark District in Tampa. Today Victoriano’s grandson Patrick Manteiga is “at the helm” of La Gesetta, the country’s only trilingual newspaper still informed, influenced and thriving as it is published weekly in English, Spanish and Italian.
