Govinda was rejected film: Govinda was the superstar of his time. He had established his influence in Bollywood in the 80s and 90s. His films once caused chaos in cinemas. Today, however, he is completely apart from the film world. In his acting career, he has turned down many hit films. The hit film Aag Hi Aag, released in 1987, was offered to Govinda for the first time. However, he rejected this offer.
New Delhi. The 1987 blockbuster film Aag Hi Aag proved to be a turning point in Chunky Pandey’s career. With this film starring veteran actors like Dharmendra and Shatrughan Sinha, Chunky Panday became an overnight star. Chunky Pandey was not the first choice for this action film. In fact, this film was first offered to 90s superstar Govinda.
Along with Dharmendra, Moushumi Chatterjee, Shatrughan Sinha, Chunky Pandey, Neelam, Richa Sharma, Shakti Kapoor and Danny Denzongpa were seen in important roles in this hit film by director Shibu Mitra. Furthermore, Vinod Mehra and Gulshan Grover also made guest appearances in this film. This film was one of the biggest hits of the year. It turned out to be the fourth highest-grossing film of 1987.
He was very friends with the film director Shibu Mitra. He also has a good friendship with film producer Pahlaj Nihalani. It is said that Shibu Mitra and Pahlaj Nihalani always took Dharmendra’s advice every time they made a film. Once in 1988, when he was planning to make a remake of a 1977 blockbuster film, he expressed his desire to cast Dharmendra in that film. However, Dharmendra had disappointed him by refusing to work in this film. However, one of his suggestions resulted in the makers earning crores of rupees.
The initial talks about casting Dilip Kumar for the role of Dharmendra in this film have been revealed. But only Dharmendra finally got the film. This film was a remake of Surendra Mohan’s 1977 film Hathyaara, in which Pran had previously appeared. Dharmendra had played the same character in Aag Hi Aag. But this film turned out to be the happiest for Chunky Pandey. If Govinda had said yes to this film, Chunky Pandey might not have gotten this big offer. This film is also known as the beginning of Chunky Panda’s Bollywood career.
In fact, Sumit Sehgal was also offered this role. But Govinda was also approached for this role. But Pahlaj Nihalani probably had a grudge against Govinda’s brother Kirti Kumar at that time for some reason and Kirti wanted all the producers who had signed Govinda to sign him (Kirti) for the film too. Due to this, he had many arguments with Kirti Kumar and Govinda left the film. But this abandoned Govinda film proved to be a lifesaver for Chunky Pandey’s career.
Let us tell you that after the immense success of Aag Hi Aag in 1987, director Shibu Mitra had also cast Dharmendra and Chunky Pandey in 1990’s Naka Bandi. He wanted to repeat the same success. In this film, both of them played the role of brother while earlier they had played the role of father and son in Aag Hi Aag.
