Grizzlies top defender Dillon Brooks out for Flagrant 2

Memphis, Tenn. ( Associated Press) — Memphis forward Dillon Brooks was kicked out for a major foul on Warriors guard Gary Payton in the opening minutes of Game 2 in his Western Conference semifinal Tuesday night.

Peyton was going for a layoff when Brooks chased him and swung his hand hitting the Warriors guard in the head. Peyton went down and immediately grabbed his left hand with a 9:08 in the first quarter. Officers review the play and quickly rule it out on Flagrant 2, sending Brooks to the locker room.

Brooks lost his first three shots after going 3 for 13 in Game 1. Brooks said after Tuesday’s first shootaround that he knew Memphis would probably have won the opener if he had shot better.

Memphis’ top perimeter defender, Brooks’ job in Game 2 was to defend two-time NBA scoring winner Stephen Curry.

Peyton misses the first free throw, makes the second. He then went to the locker room for an X-ray on his left elbow, and the Warriors said his return was to be scheduled.

Then Draymond Green left shortly after going into the locker room after being elbowed in the face. Green, who had been knocked out just before the Golden State win in Game 1, went under the basket shortly after Brooks’ disapproval. As he walked into the locker room during a timeout, Green waved the middle finger of each hand at the fans.
