Guardiola says the Premier League is the most important title of the three that City can win

MANCHESTER (Reuters) – Manchester City, bidding for a historic treble this season, could claim their third consecutive Premier League crown at the weekend, Pep Guardiola said, adding three trophies to win Most important and difficult.

If Arsenal lose at Nottingham Forest on Saturday, City could win the league without ever taking the field. If that doesn’t happen, they can beat Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday to lift the trophy.

“The Premier League is the most important competition because it lasts for 10, 11 months. We are lucky to be at home with our people and to take them with us,” Guardiola told a press conference on Friday.

Guardiola is likely not to watch the Arsenal game.

“I don’t think so,” he said. “We have a game the next day, I think we have to win that to become champions. It would be best to celebrate it with our people in the stadium.”

City come from a 4–0 thrashing of Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final second leg, and in addition to the Premier League they can win the continental tournament against Inter on 10 June and the FA Cup against Manchester United a week earlier.

Although City have won 11 consecutive Premier League games and 19 straight at the Etihad Stadium since mid-November, Guardiola said that run of success was down to their determination to rise to the occasion. DT expects things to remain the same this weekend.

The Spanish coach said, “We cannot be distracted. We will not forgive ourselves. We must focus on every game until the end of the season.” played one game less
