Mukhtar, the little dog known as ‘Crimean Hachiko’, finally reunited with its owner in the ‘afterlife’, after waiting for him for over ten years.
The dog’s death was confirmed just a few days ago in the city of Yalta, where the dog befriended many neighbors and passers-by visiting the coastal town.
This is your story
In 2011 Mukhtar’s owner drowned while performing his duties as a lifeguard from the shores of the Black Sea, this tragic accident left the little dog who was once so affectionate to his master an orphan.
Since that unfortunate event, The dog started visiting the beach area and stayed for a while in front of the sea, waiting for the appearance of his beloved human friend. The locals noticed this behavior and nicknamed him “Hachiko”, because his story is very similar to the famous Japanese Akita dog, who waited for his owner for nine years after he died.
After waiting for the man for twelve years, Mukhtar also died and the inhabitants of Yalta, saddened by the loss of the little animal, They organized a collection to raise a statue in his honor, likewise with a statue inspired by the Japanese Hachiko.
“This is a great loss for us, because Mukhtar knew and loved almost everyone who came to our town” Yanina Pavlenko, head of Yalta local administration, told the European media RT.
According to the testimony of various people, The dog is always affectionate and playful with passers-by in the city. and even became close to VÃktor Malinovski, a street trumpeter that he used to accompany his performances with the skins heard over the music.
Besides, Mukhtar will also be remembered as a hero, because many neighbors remember that years ago he jumped into the water to help save people from a “banana” that had fallen. According to several witnesses, the dog was injured by the boat’s steel propeller and although it survived the incident, it left scars all over its body.
According to the authorities, Mukhtar’s statue will be erected on the Yalta waterfront by the end of the year because there the dog is waiting for its owner.
