The engineering team has unveiled its latest SBC powered by the Intel Celeron N4020, which delivers speeds of up to 2.8GHz, supported by up to 8GB of DDR4 RAM and up to 4TB of storage.
This board stands out with its powerful Intel Celeron N4020 dual-core CPU, wide selection of ports and connectivity options, and licensed Windows 11 Pro operating system, all for the price of $199.
According to Mike Calo, co-founder and CEO, it aims to help bridge the digital divide and meet educational needs around the world. It’s the size of a phone, but with the power of a desktop computer.
His words were: “With the significant growth in remote learning, students and schools need access to versatile, affordable, high-quality products with exceptional connectivity that integrate seamlessly into the classroom. Hackboard 2 A web browser and runs native Windows apps, Google Classroom, and G-Suite through Python coding software, making it ideal for remote students and classroom learning. In addition to the Hackboard 2, the company is also working on creating kits that will include additional accessories such as protective cases, wireless touch keyboards, webcams, and portable monitors. They also provide us with optional modems to connect to 4G and 5G networks, giving us more connectivity options.
One of the aspects to consider is the Hackboard 2’s price. During the funding phase, there was a very attractive option at $99, but it is no longer available. At launch, the cheapest model now costs $175 with the Debian Linux operating system, or $199 with the Windows 11 Pro operating system. While it may be on the higher side compared to other similar boards, it’s important to note that the Hackboard 2 offers more advanced features and capabilities than cheaper alternatives.
In short, the Hackboard 2 is a very interesting board with a number of interesting features. It’s compact, affordable and has a good selection of ports and connectivity. Furthermore, the fact that it comes with a Windows 11 Pro license is a major plus for those looking for an easy to use out-of-the-box operating system. With the possibility of additional purchases, Hackboard 2 becomes an even more interesting option for users who want a versatile and flexible platform for their projects.
