LOS ANGELES ( Associated Press) — Bryce Harper entered Dodger Stadium for the third game in a row and finished with three hits as the Philadelphia Phillies deepened four times in an 8-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday night.
Gene Segura, Kyle Schwarber and Rhys Hoskins also scored home runs from Dodgers starter Julio Ureas (2-3). Philadelphia – who have won four straight and five of their last six – are on Sunday looking for their first four-game sweep at the Chavez Ravens since 1985.
Ranger Suárez (4–1) won the season’s highest in seven innings and won for the third time in his last four starts.
Mookie Bates hits a single shot for Los Angeles, who have dropped four straight for the first time since last June.
Harper hits a three-run shot in the right field To extend the Phillies’ lead to 6–1 from the Ureas in the third inning. This is the eighth time in Harper’s career that he has played at least three straight games and the first time since August 2019.
He also had a first-innings double for seven extra-base hits in the first three games. This combined him with Adrian Gonzalez for the most in the span of three games at Chavez Ravine. Gonzalez made his debut in 2015 while playing for the Dodgers.
Harper is 14 for 23 with nine extra-base hits and nine RBIs during a six-game road trip to Philadelphia.
Segura extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a three-run homer in the first innings, which was barely met by the short fence in the left-field corner. Schwarber and Hoskins added a single shot in the fourth to take an 8-1 lead.
The Dodgers responded on a two-run double down the right-field line with bases loaded by Cody Bellinger in the bottom of the fourth.
for starters
Suarez bowled 102 pitches, surpassing the century mark for the second time in a row. The left-handed batsman – who retired the last 11 hitters he faced – conceded three runs for five hits and scored six.
Urias dropped a career-high four home runs, three runs he allowed during his rookie season in 2016. Five of the eight runs allowed by the left-hander were earned on eight hits with three strikes.
leading off
Bellinger’s home run was the 31st he went on in his career, which included 11 with the Dodgers.

the west passes
The Phillies announced before the game that former pitcher David West, who was part of their 1993 World Series squad, had died of brain cancer. He was 57 years old.
West had a 10-year career in the majors with the New York Mets, Minnesota Twins, Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Red Sox. He pitched for the Phillies from 1993–96.
next
Phillies RHP Aaron Nola (1-4, 3.83 ERA) hasn’t had a win since his first start of the season. The Dodgers have not announced their starter for Sunday’s series finale.
