The legendary Kapil Dev has showered a lot of praise for being one of the key members of the Indian team, and feels the kind of form the player has shown lately has forced the selectors to take him seriously. With a deep pool of players in the batting, fast bowling, wicket-keeping and spin bowling departments leading up to the T20 World Cup in October, there are plenty of places in the BCCI selection. The committee should ideally give everyone a chance in India’s 30 T20 matches between now and the World Cup.

From the current lot, Kapil feels that India legend Dinesh Karthik has made a strong case for himself as far as his selection is concerned. In a spectacular IPL 2022 for Royal Challengers Bangalore, where he scored 330 runs at an average of 55, Karthik scored an unbeaten 30 off 21 balls, after being rewarded with an India call-back. It is difficult to ignore Karthik in his current form, which is why Kapil believes that the 37-year-old does not deserve as much praise.
“This time he has done so well that he has made the selectors think ‘Look, you can’t ignore me’. Rishabh Pant is a young player, he has a lot of cricket. Dinesh Karthik has There is experience and performance, which is why I would say, no praise is enough for him,” Kapil told Uncut.
The former captain of World Cup-winning India, Kapil credited Karthik for the same dedication he had all those years ago when he made his India debut in 2004, and declared himself with quick stumpings from Michael Vaughan. India looking for a finisher, Karthik has proved through his exploits for RCB that he is ready to play the role.
“He is playing cricket even before MS Dhoni. It has been 2 years since Dhoni retired but even now, Karthik has kept his motivation level high and after so many years it is not easy to love the game with the same passion and heart. If you talk about consistency, Dinesh Karthik is at the forefront. No matter how many balls he faces – 20, 10, or 15, he always does the same thing as we saw in IPL,” Kapil added. Told.
