He leads a health policy to bring health services to vulnerable communities

The Secretary of Health, Carlos Mellado, presented this Friday the “Destination Health” plan, which will bring the most basic and specialized medical care to the communities that are affected by diseases and difficult to access, as well as complementary facilities for diagnosis and treatment.

The first clinic will be held on Saturday, June 3 from 8:00 to 3:00 pm, Ovidio de Jesús Stadium and Court Milesia Néstor in the municipality of Río Grande. It will soon be held in other towns.

Mellado explained in a release that “our mission is to bring health services to citizens who, for multiple reasons, find it difficult to obtain medical treatment and services that put their health at risk.”

The headline was emphatic when saying “this study has the prompt and extensive support of public health, academia, municipalities and government institutions”. It is a common front to achieve the diagnosis of diseases and the assessment of the prevention of chronic health conditions, especially in vulnerable populations such as our children and the elderly. The health of the people is the priority of this administration and we will establish more projects that will benefit the Puerto Rican people.”

“Destino Salud” seeks to satisfy the urgent need to address these medical conditions, providing preventive and primary health services closer to the populations and the development of vulnerable communities, obtaining information on chronic conditions that are identified and treated by policy collaborators. It also explores the integration of academia, community, state and municipal agencies in an effort to promote health.

On the other hand, the Mayor of Río Grande, Angelo B. González Damudt, invited all citizens to participate in this event, which will bring together artists and prioritize health services.

“The provision of medical care to our people, especially those with limited financial resources who do not have health insurance,” he emphasized, thanking the Secretary of Health and the Department for the initiatives that benefit his people.

As part of prevention efforts, the plan will provide services for the prevention and control of chronic diseases, such as Alzheimer’s, asthma, diabetes, suicide prevention, HIV, oral health promotion, physical activity, tobacco prevention and control, orientation service is available. fetal development, adult intellectual disabilities and vaccination services, among others.

Among the medical doctors who will provide their services at Destino Salud are: cardiologists, dentists, dermatologists, endocrinologists, physiatrists, gastroenterologists, gynecologists, family doctors, general practitioners, neurologists, pulmonologists, ophthalmologists, orthopedists, podiatrists, psychologists, pediatricians, urologists and nutritionists, among others.

As its name indicates, “Destino Salud” has the ultimate goal that each participant offers in the services, this is their safe destination for the medical care they need and the quality of life they deserve.
