Health and Life: Debunking the Myths About Physical Activity

Exercise can increase energy, promote weight loss, improve sleep, and reduce your risk for a variety of health conditions! However, there are many myths about physical activity that may prevent you from reaping the full benefits.

Myth 1: Lifting heavy weights will cause women to gain a lot of muscle and volume, while the truth is that women have lower testosterone levels, so they won’t build as much muscle as men.

Another myth: You can lose fat in a specific area. The truth is, you can’t really control which part of your body burns fat.

Also: If you’ve been told to do only one type of physical activity every day, you’re misinformed.

This is because the body gets used to it, which is why it is recommended to focus on a different muscle group each day and incorporate some form of cardio as well.

Another myth: Running is bad for your knees. Experts say that regular running strengthens the joints and prevents osteoarthritis.

Also, you may have heard that you need to stretch before training, but this is not true. In fact, stretching after a workout is even more effective when your muscles are already slightly warmed up.

Also, the notion that exercise will make up for a poor diet is completely wrong!

Diet and nutrition usually play a bigger role than exercise when it comes to managing your weight. If you’ve been told that exercise will bring results quickly, think again.

Another common myth is that you have to sweat to get a good workout. Factors such as temperature, humidity and your hydration level can affect how much you sweat. Also, some people’s bodies are more efficient at cooling themselves, which is why they sweat less than others.
