According to statistics, getting more exercise, eating healthier and losing weight are the three most common resolutions for Americans in 2023.
But many people give up on their goals within a few weeks. In our health section, we tell you four ways your pet can help you maintain those healthy habits.
“Pets have been shown to bring us a better sense of health and well-being,” said Holly Sizemore of Best Friends Society for Animals.
Sizemore says pets can help you stick to your New Year’s resolutions.
If you want to eat healthier, check with your vet to find out what foods you can share with your dog or cat.
“Carrots and apples are fantastic. Maybe a little piece of cheese. It might not be as healthy, but it’s probably going to be appreciated by the dog,” commented Sizemore.
If walking more is your goal in 2023, dogs and cats can be great companions too, so long as you move.
“Once they get used to the walk, they’ll keep you glued to it. If they go for a walk at the same time every day, they’ll start vocalizing a few minutes earlier and saying, ‘I’m ready to walk. Am.” ,'” Sizemore said.
If you’re looking to socialize more in the new year, walking with a pet is a great way to meet others.
“I think I met half of my neighbors walking my dog and it was great because I think I made friends I probably wouldn’t have had. It’s a great way to start a conversation,” Sizemore said. Said.

According to Sizemore, “The joy and unconditional love they give us is a stress reliever in itself, but if you want to go further, you can meditate or practice yoga with your pet.” Huh.”
