He wants to protect Germany from a potential coronavirus wave in the autumn, but now he has caught it himself: Karl Lauterbach has contracted the coronavirus.
in short needed
- Karl Lauterbach has tested positive for the coronavirus.
- Despite “extreme caution”, the German health minister was infected.
- According to his ministry, Lauterbach has been vaccinated against Corona four times.
Germany’s Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach has been infected with the corona virus. The 59-year-old had tested positive, his ministry said. He is doing well, has only mild symptoms and is temporarily taking his official business out of home isolation. According to his ministry, Lauterbach has been vaccinated four times.
“This suggests that with the highly contagious Omicron variant, infection cannot be completely ruled out, even with extreme caution,” the ministry wrote.
The Minister, therefore, once again appeals to everyone to behave prudently and ensure adequate vaccination protection so that the infection and severe course can be prevented as far as possible. Lauterbach (SPD) repeatedly warns about coronavirus and potentially highly contagious forms of the virus that may still occur.
Transition immediately after presentation of the new corona concept
On Wednesday, Lauterbach and Justice Minister Marco Bushmann (FDP) presented a new concept to arm Germany against a possible autumn corona wave. The focus is on wearing FFP2 or medical masks. The FFP2 mask requirement in long-distance trains and airplanes should continue to apply nationwide, as well as the need for a new mask and testing in hospitals and care facilities.
Countries themselves must decide whether they need masks even in publicly accessible indoor areas such as supermarkets. In schools, the requirement for masks is allowed only when face-to-face teaching is at risk – and only from fifth grade onwards.
Will you be vaccinated for corona for the fourth time?
