Health reform: actors in the system want to know about the government’s project

Unions and key actors of the health system in Colombia have told the national government in the last few hours that the reforms that will be presented to Congress before going to debate include “a place of creation, deliberation and agreement with all the voice actors”.

In a statement signed by representatives of patient organizations, the academy, hospital associations, insurers and the pharmaceutical industry, among others, he indicated that the process begins with knowing the text of the reform before it reaches the legislature.

“We call on the national government to allow and promote dialogue This ensures that any improvements to the system are viable and sustainable over time and translate into real improvements for the health of patients and Colombians“, he pointed out.

“We have much to contribute to this discussion and we express our willingness to engage in social dialogue, which we reiterate in the greatest active spirit and for the benefit of our country,” the statement said.

The reform has not been without controversy along the way. The same Education Minister Alejandro Gaviria said in an interview with RCN that although “he has been judicious” about the objections with the health reform proposed by his cabinet colleague, Health Minister, Carolina Corcho, he clarified that it was for his opinion ” clear” and “true”.

Indeed, this Thursday he wrote on his Twitter account that “true change happens when there are agreements when societies reach an agreement. Reforms require dialogue, discussion, debate, and investigation. Only in this way Legitimacy builds and big mistakes happen.”
