Health reform will be reviewed by the Council of Ministers before reaching Congress

The controversy over the process of health reform has been red-hot in recent weeks as the date for its submission to the Republican Congress approaches.

Lizcano also pointed out that President Gustavo Petro has already seen the text of the reform and warned that it would be shared with the rest of the ministerial cabinet during the week.

For example, He cautioned that it has not said how the human talent shortfall in health is being addressed, which must be strengthened as it will be critical to guaranteeing access to primary care. He also sought clarity on other issues like payment of health providers and training of health workers.

There he pointed out that there should be more transparency in the formulation of health reform initiatives.

“It is of utmost importance that this reform, which directly affects the health care of all Colombians and the stability of the system, has room for construction, discussion and agreement with the voices of all actors, as promised For this and for all reforms govt. To that extent, he called on the national government to publish the draft and solicit public opinion before filing it with Congress.
