Health trains business owners about new tobacco law on “Citizen Tuesday”

City of Puebla, Pu. , Through the Directorate against Sanitary Risks (DPRIS) trained store owners and the population on the new general law for the control of tobacco, during the “Citizen Tuesday” organized in San Sebastián de Aparicio, Auxiliary Board of the Ministry of Health, which Sunday, 15 Effective from Jan.

One of those interested was Jesus, who has a small shop; He explained that thanks to the course, he was able to understand in detail how the law works in order to be able to make changes to his miscellaneous items and not be penalised.

Sergio Cruz Beristain, coordinator of the DPRIS environmental and occupational health opinion, commented that, with the said law, the World Health Organization (WHO) wants to reduce the demand for tobacco, which has become one of the main causes of death. One in eight Mexicans are smokers and can develop chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and cancer.

At the end of the conversation, owners of businesses selling tobacco approached the sector to obtain regulation and to be aware of the rules and restrictions of this law.

On Civil Day, the unit set up 22 modules for medical care (ophthalmology, dentistry, orthopedics, paediatrics, hypertension and glucose control) and sterilization of dogs and cats.

The head of the unit, José Antonio Martínez García, and Suma’s team of specialist doctors, nurses, anesthesiologists, surgeons and paramedics performed six procedures in the traveling operating room, including hernias, vasectomy, salpingo sclerosis and lipomas.

The official thanked the Assistant Chairman, Moises Côté, for his support and contribution in logistics for the development of this conference.
