India is struggling with the second wave of Covid-19. The sudden increase in infectives has shaken the nation’s healthcare system. Problems are arising due to lack of beds, oxygen and medicines in the hospital. In times of this crisis, many organizations have stepped forward to help India.
There are many organizations that are coming forward to really help in times of need, but there are also many organizations that are committing fraud in the name of Covid-19 infection. Such organizations are misleading the common people and committing fraud in the name of Covid-19 relief work. There is a similar non-governmental organization (NGO) based in the US. We are talking about the Islamic Medical Association of North America (IMANA) Care.
IMANA gained popularity in India overnight a few days ago. It is being said that these organizations are running paid advertisements on Instagram and even paying influencers on social media platforms to share their posts. By doing this, the youth of the country are being targeted. In return, Indian youth are donating randomly to NGO’s fund-raising campaign ‘Help India Breath’.
Interestingly, IMANA is an NGO that works for the betterment of Muslim society alone. The organization has its introduction It clearly states “It is a major resource network for American-Muslim health professionals in North America.” It states that it aims to serve its Muslim patients.
This American NGO started a campaign called ‘Help India Breath’ which will help in India’s fight against the infection crisis of Covid-19. Within a short time, IMANA collected crores of money through the campaign.
At first, the intentions of this American NGO seemed very good. But within a short time, social media users started questioning the reality of this NGO and its campaign.
NGOs and their changing campaigns:
IMANA has been caught changing her campaign on Instagram not once but thrice. According to information provided by a social media user, the NGO initially targeted to collect a total of Rs 1.8 crore in donations, which was increased to Rs 3 crore on the same day and later to Rs 5.6 crore.
Interestingly, every time the organization achieved a goal in the campaign, the organization would quietly increase its target. This in itself is quite questionable as usually all campaigns have specific time limits and they end after achieving the predetermined goal.

Help India Breath and his relationship with Hizbul Mujahideen:
IMANA has its official Website But it is mentioned with another NGO named Islamic Society of Northern America (ISNA).
IMANA stated on its official website that IMANA was first established as a branch of MSA which later evolved into ISNA. Interestingly, ISNA is accused of funding Islamic terrorist groups in Jammu and Kashmir.
Of 2017 India today The Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) began an audit of NGOs in 2011, according to the report. The CRA revoked ISNA’s charity status on charges of having links with the Hizbul Mujahideen and funding Islamic terrorist groups in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a letter to ISNA, Canadian officials wrote that they have exposed the relationship between ISNA and the Jamaat-e-Islami, a Pakistani-Islamic fundamentalist group and the parent organization of the Hizbul Mujahideen.
According to the audit, the CRA found that a Jami Mosque in Toronto was involved in collecting funds for which it had issued tax receipts from the ISNA Islamic Service. The fund was then sent to the Relief Organization of Kashmiri Muslims (ROKM) through the ISNA Development Foundation. According to the CRA, ROKM is the charitable arm of Jamaat-e-Islami, the parent organization of the Hizbul Mujahideen.
The CRA then stated, “Our research suggests that ROKM is a charitable arm of the Jamaat-e-Islami that challenges India’s governance through the activities of its armed wing Hizbul Mujahideen in Jammu and Kashmir.” The CRA expressed fears that the funds raised by ROKM serve the fundamentalist and political objectives of the Jamaat-e-Islami and its armed wing Hizbul Mujahideen.
These facts suggest that Indians were duped and that their donations to this Islamic NGO will be used primarily for Muslims in America.
