Here are the best high public schools in the Beaumont area, per report

U.S. News & World Report released its 2022 Best High School rankings in late April. The organization ranked approximately 17,840 public high schools in the US to determine which were best at providing education to high school students. The ranking is determined by scoring each school on six metrics: college readiness, college curriculum breadth, state assessment efficiency, state assessment performance, low student performance and graduation rate.

The Beaumont area is home to some of the best schools in Texas and America. Here’s a look at U.S. News and World Report’s rankings and statistics for public high schools in the Beaumont area.

1. Sabine Pass School


Sabine Pass School is ranked as the best high school in the Beaumont area. Additionally, out of 1,481 schools in Texas, it is ranked 107th, scoring in the top 200 in each of the six categories. The school also ranked number 845 nationwide.

The school has a 100% graduation rate and exceeds the state average in proficiency in the State of Texas Assessment of Students’ Academic Readiness. In the subject of reading, 81% of students met or had mastered the STAAR exam at grade level, while 50% did the same across the state. In science and maths, 79% and 66% of Sabine pass school students performed similarly compared to 60% and 50% for the state, respectively.

2. Hardin-Jefferson High School

Hardin-Jefferson School was ranked as the second best high school in the Beaumont area and was one of the top schools in the state, number 342 of all high schools across the state. The school scored best in Texas on State Assessment Efficiency and State Assessment Performance Ranks, with rankings of 172 and 192 respectively.

Students at Hardin-Jefferson High School performed best on the science subject of the STAAR exam with an 88% meeting or higher than their grade level. Mathematics was the next best subject, with 75% of students meeting this criterion and 71% of students meeting or studying these standards, which were above the state average.

3. Academy of Harmony Sciences – Beaumonte

Coming in third for the best high schools in the Beaumont area is Harmony Science Academy Beaumont. The school has a graduation rate of 100% and performs better than the state average when it comes to reading the STAAR exam.

The school is ranked as the 527th best high school in Texas and 6,285th nationally.

4. Hampshire-Fannett High School

Hampshire-Fannett High School is the fourth-ranked school in the Beaumont area, in the Hampshire-Fannett Independent School District. The school’s best-ranked is the State Assessment Proficiency Rank, in which students perform better than the state average on the reading and science subjects of the STAAR exams.

5. Netherlands High School

The fifth best high school in the Beaumont area is Netherlands High School. Netherlands ISD School is the 608th best high school in Texas and the 7,136th best high school in the country.
