Large pickup trucks dominate the US automobile industry. In this context, RAM Trucks scores on the podium of the most commercial vehicles together with Ford F Series and Silver Chevrolet. The case of the brand is different in Mexico, where the big ones are far from the most popular.
The 1500 may be the flagship of RAM Trucks, but the Mexican automotive truth indicates that the most successful model of the former Lincoln in sales is another one, which marks a strong presence and low-cost demand for utility trucks in the country. This pulse is marked by the American firm RAM 700.
Ending 2022 with a more than positive balance of sales in Mexico, the RAM 700 was marketed in the country with four variants for its 2023 model. The most accessible of these variants have been placed above and, although RAM Trucks has not faltered here as in the United States, they have placed the version with the most sales which they were not small at all.
Its exterior includes finishes in White, Polar White, Silver, Black, Street Gray and Colorado Red. Access to the pick-up is 700 Regular Cab with two seats. They have four left. Length, width and wheelbase do not vary, measuring 4,474mm, 1,732mm and 2,737mm respectively. In terms of height, the Reg Cab with its 1,595mm tops the SLT Crew Cab – the best-seller in Mexico, which measures 1,586mm.

The 1717mm box has a cubicle type plastic hook for packing and lighting. The top-of-the-line Laramie also offers a retractable tonneau cover to protect cargo. This version of the RAM 700 is also led from a sports perspective — the lower variants have halogen-covered bars that go to the chest, where they have one more point of attachment.
The front and rear fascia and side shields are presented in black fabric. The front is completed by a double black grille with “RAM” logos and air vents at the ends in the case of Reg Cab and another set of lighting for the advanced variants. The wheels are 15-inch steel, except for the Laramie, which offers alloy, also 15″.
Let’s see the camera. The Reg Cab offers a simple cabin with two seats, the others have five seats. In both cases, the upholstery of the heavy duty is obscured. In Laramie, a gray tone is added for a leathery texture. In infotainment, a 7″ touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a rear camera have been added to the Laramie and Bighorn, the latter exclusive.
The standard configuration meanwhile includes front airbags for the driver and passenger, air conditioning, power windows with electric system and AM/Fm radio, USB and Bluetooth connectivity with steering wheel. Sound is provided through two speakers in the case of the Reg Cab and four for the Double Cab.

Powered by a 1.3-liter Firefly four-liter gasoline engine with a fuel capacity of 55 liters, the 2023 RAM 700 makes 98 horsepower, 94 lb-ft of torque and operates with front-wheel drive through a five-speed manual transmission.
In driving, precisely, among its main virtues is traction control, another plus for more aggressive traction in remote areas and on hills, even with a light load in the rear box. Regarding the load, its total volume is 1,354 liters, and its maximum capacity is 750 kg, while the towing capacity is 400 kg.

RAM 700 is the most successful model of the brand in sales now in the Mexican market. If we rely on the information of the Association of Mexican Industry (AMIA) about the balance of 2022, we find the RAM 700 SLT Crew Cab, the second approach to the variant model, in fourth place among the -ups with the most registrations.
According to the entity, a total of 18,152 units of this version will be sold in Mexico in 2022, placing it one position below the Volkswagen Saveiro -23,037- and one step above the Mitsubishi L200 -17,824-. Is this excellent? Crew Cab number 25 on all cars sold.
To top it all off, for 2023 RAM has incorporated a special edition model: the 700 Longhorn. Considering the impact of the Saveiro, the importance of small pick-ups in the local market is evident.
