TEHRAN (IQNA) — A Hezbollah official said that the incessant US meddling in Lebanon’s domestic politics has fundamentally complicated the situation and raised concerns about the possibility of a presidential vacuum in the Arab country.
At a ceremony on Monday in the southern Lebanese village of Maroun el-Ras, Sheikh Nabil Qaouk said the Americans wanted a president who would create a “fresh challenge” for Lebanon. He said: “US interference in all political developments in Lebanon and its intrusive policies regarding the upcoming presidential elections and the formation of a new government make matters worse and pose a serious threat to national unity,” Press TV reported .
Sheikh Qaouk noted that the Resistance Front was playing a crucial role in restoring Lebanon’s national rights, maritime border lines with the Israeli regime, and defending Lebanon’s national dignity and natural resources from Israel’s violent attacks.
The senior Hezbollah official said that the resistance axis was becoming more powerful militarily and politically, while the enemies were becoming more bowed down.
Sheikh Qaouk also said that some politicians and political parties in Lebanon were trying to deceive the Lebanese resistance movement.
Since the end of 2019, Lebanon has been in a deep economic and financial crisis. This crisis is the greatest threat to the country’s stability since the 15-year civil war that ended in 1990.
The economic and financial crisis is in large part linked to the sanctions imposed on Lebanon by the US and its allies, as well as foreign interference in the internal affairs of this Arab nation.
To add to the misery, Saudi Arabia has imposed its own sanctions, which include barring Saudi citizens from traveling to Lebanon, where Riyadh-backed elements are gambling for positions.
