High School: Shalmont advances to Section II Girls’ Soccer Tournament

Top-ranked Salmont advanced to the semi-finals of the Class II Class B girls’ football tournament with a 6-0 win against Tamarack on Saturday.

Gianna Visucci scored two goals, while Gianna Cirilla, Gabriela Amoroso, Simone Cassano and Peyton Grabar scored one goal each. Cassano provided two assists, and Olivia Badalucco and Annalize Tyler made one assist each.

Georgia Clark made three saves in the shutout.

In other Class B quarterfinal games, Holy Names won 3–1 against Greenville, Broadbin-Perth topped Ichabod Crane 2–0, and Mechanicville scored a penalty kick after a 1–1 draw with Voorheesville. upgraded through

Georgia Green scored each goal in Shenandoahova’s 3–0 win against Bolston Spa in the Section II Class AA Girls’ Football Quarterfinals.

In other action, Bethlehem defeated Colony 1–0, Colombia 1–0 over Niscayuna and Shaker won 3–0 against Saratoga Springs.

Top-ranked Shendehowa will play Bethlehem and Colombia Shakers in Wednesday’s semi-finals.

With a 6–0 win against Coxsackie-Athens, the Mechanicville boys’ football team advanced to the Class II Class B semifinals.

Andrew Krajewski and Waiki Aguda each provided two goals and two assists, while Ryan Grimick had one goal and one assist, and Gordon Janney scored one. Dylan Rousey made five saves in the shutout.

Top seed Mechanicville will play Broadalbin-Perth in a semifinal game, while Greenville and Cohos will meet in a second semifinal match on Wednesday at Gloversville High School.

Northville, Loudonville Christian Advance
Northville beat Germantown in a Section II Class D boys’ soccer tournament quarter-final matchup. Jacob Frank, Colin Morehouse and Miles Weaver scored two goals each in the win, while JT Articusi recorded one goal and one assist. Frank added two assists, and Wyatt Sira provided three assists.

Loudonville Christian beat Hartford 2-1.

In Tuesday’s semi-finals in Gloversville, OESJ will face Loudonville Christian and top seed Northville will face Argyle.

Avril Park won
Avril Park defeated Scotia-Glanville 2–1 in the quarterfinals Section II of the boys’ soccer tournament. Carter Morse had one goal and one assist in the win, while Carter D added a goal for Avril Park. Noah Murdock with an assist from Conor Raven for Scotia-Glanville, 10 saves from Zach Place.

Shekhar tops CBA
The CBA went 2–0 on Shaker in the Class II AA boys’ soccer quarterfinals.

Hunter Bulich scored in the 68th minute and Paul Abatiello scored in the 78th minute with the help of Chris Murphy.

The CBA will play Guilderland next Thursday in the semi-finals in Mechanicville, and top-ranked Shenandoahova will take on Niscuna.
