High School: Shendehowa Girls’ Volleyball beat Troy in straight sets

Emma Palivodzinski recorded 28 assists, seven digs and three aces in the Shendehowa girls’ volleyball team’s 25-8, 25-10, 25-8 win over Troy on Tuesday.

In the suburban council matchup, Shendehowa’s Kasia Barlett produced 26 digs and four aces, Ryan Enist added seven digs and four kills, and Simone Yoonson contributed six kills and four aces.

Colony defeated Bethlehem 25-13, 25-19, 25-22. Shannon Coyle scored 17 goals in the win, while teammate Gabby Martin added nine.

Erica Silliman contributed 26 assists and six digs in Colombia’s 25-13, 25-10, 25-20 win against Bolston Spa. Allison Silliman added 19 digs to the win, while Leah Phillips recorded 10 kills and Natalie Littrell nine. For the Ballston Spa, Sarah Buzzo had nine assistants and Emily Robbie committed five murders.

The Saratoga Springs Shaker topped 25-27, 21-25, 25-15, 25-15, 25-18. Gabriella Kholsteinin had 31 assists in the win, while Noel Sly had 16 kills, Grace Frenia contributed 14 kills and 18 digs, and Brooke Potre had a dozen kills. For Shaker, Layla Shipley produced 12 assists, 10 digs and eight kills, and Brie Hardwick recorded 11 assists and seven kills.

Albany defeated Schenectady 25-17, 25-20, 17-25, 18-25, 25-22. For Albany, Sidney Spineberg contributed 28 assists, Nayla Barrow contributed 11 kills and 11 digs, and Tori Smith Wylde added nine kills. For Schenectady, Gelmazoni Marrero Martinez had 15 kills and 38 digs, Kellyanne Hurd had 26 assists and Madison Peterson had 26 digs.

Avril Park needed five sets to beat Guilderland 20-25, 16-25, 25-20, 25-16, 25-21. Lauren Hoyle had 15 digs, six kills and three aces in the loser, and teammate Emily Norgov had 24 digs and two blocks. Avril Park’s Emily Perst did 10 kills and Isabella Mahar did 11 kills.

In Foothills Council Girls Volleyball, Scotia-Glenville beat Amsterdam 16–25, 25–10, 25–12, 25–13. Mia Wood had a dozen aces in the win, while Keely Christel scored nine kills and seven digs.

Sophia Rogers had four aces, eight kills and three blocks as Broadbin-Perth beat Gloversville 25-11, 25-12, 25-19. Jackie Rattray had 12 digs for Gloversville.

In a non-league match, Galway improved the season to 7–0 with a 20–25, 25–15, 25–21, 19–25, 25–16 win against the previously unbeaten Queensbury. Julia Reidy starred for Galway with 31 kills and 15 digs, Kylie Decker contributed 31 assists, Sofia Fasolino made 22 assists, and Trichelle Oliver produced 13 digs, eight kills, and six blocks.

Scotia-Glanville victory
Javier DeLuca had two goals and an assist, and Kofi Jack had one goal and two assists in Scotia-Glanville’s 4–0 Foothills Council boys’ soccer win against Gloversville.

Broadalbin-Perth won 14–0 against Jonestown. Sam Rogers, Jack Dunlop, Dean Smith and Nick Bianco scored two goals each in the win, while Luke Barnhart scored one goal and two assists. In addition to scoring two goals, Rogers, Bianco and Smith each provided one assist.

Nathan Hughes scored the game-winning goal in Bolston Spa’s 3–2 suburban council win against Colombia.

Brody Deal had a goal and an assist in Mayfield’s 3–1 Western Athletic Conference win against OESJ. Mason Snell had an OESJ goal, while Britain’s Gudemot and Christian Scunziano added a goal each for Mayfield.

Cole Crempa scored three goals in Johnstown’s 6–0 Foothills Council field hockey victory against Glens Falls. Kalena Eaton contributed one goal and one assist, and Jenna Barker contributed two assists.

golf postponed
The Section II Class A Boys Golf Tournament at the Fairways of Halfmoon was postponed until next week due to “poor course conditions”, Section II announced on Tuesday.

The tournament will now take place on October 14.

Boys’ Class B and C/D tournaments were also postponed this week due to weather issues.
