High Schools: Boys from Chalmont beat Voorheesville in the first round of the Section II Class B soccer tournament.

Andrew Kusek scored three goals and added an assist on Wednesday when Chalmont, seeded from 12th, beat fifth-seeded Voorheesville 4-0 in the first round of the B boys’ soccer tournament.

Kusek assisted Paulie Brosius’s goal.

Goalkeeper Christian Tortorici made eight saves, making him his fourth shutout of the season.

In another Class B game, Andrew Kraszewski scored five goals and 100 in his career when Mechanicville beat Fonda-Fultonville 12-0. Kraszewski also provided two assists. Colin McNutt added two goals and three assists.

Sam Rogers had two goals and two assists when Broadalbin-Perth beat Ravena-Coimans-Selkirk 6-0. Nick Bianco, Cody Rogers, Antonio Daniello and Landon Rousson also scored for the Patriots (14-3).

Second-half goals from Sam Tyler, Balasai Witt and Liam Armstrong led Schuierville to a 3-1 victory over Hudson.

Colby Cummings’ goal propelled Gulderland above Ballston Spa 1-0 in the first round of the AA class.

Andrew Hopper scored a goal and an assist that led the CBA to a 5-2 victory over Colombia.

Gloversville and Amsterdam tied 2-2 in the first round of the boys’ A-class football tournament, while Gloversville moved up 4-2 on penalties. Gloversville bounced back from a 2-0 deficit in the last 12 minutes of the game to seek overtime. Justin Kemmet made 12 saves for Gloversville and stopped two more during the penalty shootout. Nick Covey and Brodie McNeill scored for Amsterdam.

Jake Afsar-Keshmiri scored a goal and assist to secure Queensbury’s 3-0 win over Troy. Jack Grant and Gavin Kelly also scored for the Spartans (10-5-2).

Harry Haworth had three goals and an assist, Finn Conway had two goals and assists, and Sa Clair Mu added two when Albany Academy beat Mohonasen 8-1. Justin Andrioya scored for Mohonasen.

MACMASTER RULES SARATOGA
Maddie McMaster scored three goals and two assists to lead Saratoga Springs to 17-0 Schenectady in the first round of the Section II AA Women’s Football Tournament. Analysis Rodriguez has also scored three times in the Blue Lanes, with Abby Bundy and Taylor Balzer adding two goals and one assist each.

In the Class C round, Sara Pita scored with 17:26 before the end of the second half, helping Corinth beat Duanesburg 1-0.
Ashley Stevens’ goal led Burne-Knox-Westerlo to a 1-0 win over Husich Valley.

HOUSE FALLS HOCKEY VICTORY
Fourth-quarter goals scored by Liris Kriner and Emma McCart helped Husik Falls win a 3-1 victory over Corinth in the first round of the C-class hockey tournament.

Ben Pierce had 12 kills and Liam Calhoun added 11 kills and two aces when Burnt Hills Ballston Lake defeated Bethlehem 25-19, 25-15, 25-22 in a Commuter Council Boys Volleyball game. Aidan Calhoun has 26 assists and Gavin Sweet 26 assists for the Spartans.

Allison Motler had 25 service points, eight aces and five assists when the Saratoga center Catholic beat Husich Valley 25-13, 25-11, 25-12. Liz Best added eight service points and four aces.

Keely Pennick scored 18 service points, six kills and five assists when Waterford-Halfmun improved to 14-0 in the Wasren league and 15-0 overall from 25-16, 25-13, 25-15 wins over Berlin / New Lebanon. Chelsea Plummer added nine service points and four kills.

Johnstown beat Gloversville 24-26, 25-19, 25-17, 29-27 in the Foothills Council girls volleyball game. Ellie Salvione topped Gloversville with 25 assists and 12 taps. Zoe Tesie added 19 kills, 18 digs and five blocks, while Jackie Rattray added 22 digs.

Galway defeated Gulderland in the women’s volleyball out of league game 25-13, 25-14, 25-15. Galway goes to 11-0 overall. Julia Reedy topped Galway (11-0) with 13 kills and 13 digs, while Anna Dombrowski had 10 blocks and six kills. Jaden DeWellis had 41 digs.

Anastasia Kumanis made 12 assists and 8 aces in Schulerville’s victory over Mechanicville 25-19, 25-21, 25-21. Jenna Tesoriero had 10 service points and seven assists for Mechanicville.
